The VALORANT Legion is a publicly-celebrated organization from Ω-Earth. They are tasked with protecting their people from disastrous events, as well as traveling to α-Earth in order to steal their radianite for their own uses. While their Agent roster is the same as the VALORANT Protocol, Legion appears to recruit some Agents by different means, or at slightly different times than their Alpha counterpart. For example, Neon was recruited on Alpha to power the Alpha-Omega teleportal, however, since Omega already had the capacity to teleport without Ω-Neon, it's unlikely she was recruited for the same reason. As for recruitment order, the REVELATION cinematic has Ω-Sage accessing a locker marked 10, when she is Agent 7 on α-Earth.

Functioning[]

Publicity[]

Unlike their Alpha counterpart, the covert VALORANT Protocol, Legion is not only publicly known on Ω-Earth but celebrated. Initially however, Legion was not well known on Omega, after their actions dealing with α-Earth, the organization and its Agents soon became heroes to Ω-Earth.[1]

More hints around this may be present on the timeline seen in the Multiverse Museum on Pearl. There, a logo of VALORANT appears several steps before the appearance of a VALORANT Legion logo, with Legion logo specifically being one of the most recent points on the timeline. This could suggest that, like the VALORANT Protocol, VALORANT Legion was initially set up covertly some time after First Light, before entering the public spotlight at the point Legion appears on the timeline.

Pearl Museum Timeline

Further speculation suggests that it was specifically Legion's actions in Lisbon that were responsible for Legion embracing their public hero status, as the Legion logo appears after another point in the timeline theorized to represent when Lisbon came under threat from sinking under the ocean. As the timeline itself is quite vague though, these are only theories.

Lisbon and the Garden of Heroes[]

In Ω-Lisbon especially, the Agents of Legion are treated as heroes thanks to the part they played in saving its citizens from catastrophic rising sea levels. A mural can be found on the walls at Pearl's A Link of Ω-Breach, Ω-Phoenix, and Ω-Reyna. Behind Defender Spawn, there is also the Garden of Heroes, where memorial statues of four of Legion's radiants stand; Ω-Jett, Ω-Omen, Ω-Phoenix, and Ω-Sage.

In the REVELATION cinematic, we got a look into Ω-Sage's locker inside the VLHQ, which had a newspaper clipping pinned to the door. The headlines, when translated, were about Legion's miraculous work to help save the drowning city.

In particular, each of these 4 radiants who got a statue played a specific part in saving the people of Lisbon, gaining a memorial in their honor as well as an accompanying PA announcement. Out-of-universe, one of the game's Battle Passes also contained a player card for each statue as well as showing its corresponding Agent in action:

Merchandise[]

There is also a lot of merchandise available for the VALORANT Legion on Omega. This includes artwork, clothing, and some every day items like water bottles. A selection of these items can be seen on sale at the Hi Tide Comics store to the right of Pearl's Defender Spawn.

One particular type of product of interest is the comic book series themed around Legion, its Agents, and even its enemies:

Friendly Fire
The Friendly Fire card shows an issue from the comic series Killjoy & Raze. The issue's cover shows the two Agents fighting several creatures resembling Neon's Squish-Squish, referred to by the comic as "tentacled terrors".

VAL-CON[]

Omega also holds a convention related to Legion, known as VAL-CON. This convention hosts cosplayers, movie showings, and special guests panels. Limited edition goods are also available to attendees. The Agents themselves prefer not to make appearances at the convention, taking their job as protectors of Omega quite seriously.[2]

Information from REVELATION[]

As three of the four major plotlines in the REVELATION cinematic took place on Omega Earth, we naturally gained a lot of information about Legion and the Omega Agents from it.

One of the key takeaways is how we see the Omega Agents in public, making no attempt to hide their identity. The only time that their presence is noted by the people nearby is in the first scene at the nightclub, when Fade is recognized by someone in the crowd, and called out by name[3].

This tells us that while the Omega Agents may be known and recognized public figures, their fame hasn't yet reached a point where they are hounded by avid fans and followers whenever they are seen in public. It is possible that the intense following they have in Ω-Lisbon (to the point of having premium merchandise and statues made in their honor) could be limited to the area, given their efforts to save the city. Our lack of information about Legion makes it hard to draw any definitive conclusions on the matter.

Information from the ATLAS Emails[]

Jam Atlas Dossier 6

The ATLAS email from Patch 6.07 in which the Legion ambassador responds to Lt. Delacroix.

During Episode 6, a series of emails from the Omega organization ATLAS were found on the map Lotus in Defenders' Spawn. The writer of many of these emails, Lt. Delacroix--an ATLAS soldier--is revealed to have had a past working with Ω-Viper. While the Legion member isn't directly specified, it can be assumed to be Viper due to the mention of their "direct tactical support" seeming to refer to a recent event, which would most likely be during the SHATTERED Cinematic where Ω-Viper assisted ATLAS with fighting Alpha Killjoy, Neon, and Reyna. From this email, it's discovered that Legion has a specific ambassador to deal with ATLAS, and that whoever is in-charge of the organization doesn't fully agree with ATLAS's mission. At this point, it's unclear if the "boss" mentioned is a member of Legion itself, such as Brimstone, or whoever funds Legion on Omega. Regardless, the email points to the two organizations further splitting paths, and a possible increase in tension between the two. This is likely why Legion is intent on withholding information about what happened on Lotus during the activation of the Nexus from ATLAS.[4]

Notes[]

  • While the VALORANT Protocol is referred to as 'the Protocol' for short, 'VALORANT Legion' is shortened to just 'Legion' in the voicemails and emails, with the preceding 'the' being dropped entirely.
  • Legion's HQ seems to be situated in a similar location to the VPHQ, judging from the rock visible from its windows, as seen in the REVELATION cinematic.
  • Agent 08 does not a locker for themselves in the VLHQ.
  • As seen in the REVELATION cinematic, Ω-Sage's ID number was 10, as compared to α-Sage's 07, implying that Legion also has a different recruitment order to the Protocol.
