Valorant Lore Wiki

Radivores are a group of creatures within the world of VALORANT that were first encountered--at least in their current state--through the Kingdom Project Landfall. The most notable radivores are Gekko's crew of 4, but are not the only known radivores in the world. Their exact origins at this time is still unknown.

General Lore[]

Origins of the Term and Project Landfall[]

Icebox Email 1

The term Radivore is what Kingdom scientists first used to describe creatures that were being studied and utilized in Project Landfall; A sensitive Project that Kingdom was pursuing, at least on surface, as a method to lower Venice. The details of this project remains unknown at this time but it is likely that helping Venice was not the only goal of the project though this possibility remains unconfirmed. Though unlike the project in Everett-Linde, Project Landfall's existence is known to the press the details of their acitivities and goal is kept strictly a secret and employees are instructed to use their NDA as a cover.[1]

The VALORANT Protocol first learns about this project when Killjoy is unable to find any eelpouts or microorganisms on the market as they were bought in bulk for a hazmat reserve company contracted with Kingdom [2] as part of their attempts to study and understand Radivores.

Monitoring Project Landfall and Kingdom West Facility in Los Angeles results in recruiting Gekko and his little crew of Radivores: Wingman, Dizzy, Mosh and Thrash; The details of the break out is not very clear at this time but it followed reports of weird things spotted near the Kingdom West facility around evening hours that spooked the locals and affected businesses.

Interverse1

Following Gekko's radivores' escape, Kingdom tightens security of the facility while K-Sec remains on the look out for Gekko and his creatures. Shortly after this incident the Landfall team at Kingdom West records a tremblor activity that does not seem to originate from seismic activities[3], this could have possibly been a result of an opening of an Interverse portal in the facility, though this remains unconfirmed at this time. The exact nature of an interverse portal is still unknown but it appears to be a natural portal not unlike a teleporter moving the subject from location A to B. It has has a texture similar to the same material that a Radivore's body is made of.

Gekko stealing the little buddies from Kingdom West causes a set back in the project; In an attempt to keep Kingdom's board of directors convinced that the Project will deliver on its promises, Supervisor Griffin, leading scientist in charge of Project Landfall, makes arrangements to move personnel from other divisions to assist in keeping the project moving forward. These changes and the secrecy around Project Landfall causes some Kingdom employees to feel alienated[4]. In an attempt to continue their research of Radivores, Kingdom sends a small crew of expert hunters along with scientist Anton Dorsey to a facility in Svalbard to retrieve a radivore which results in the events of UNMADE Cinematic.

Following the disaster at Svalbard it becomes obvious that Kingdom has attempted to contain these creatures in special box shaped containers of various sizes labled Radivore Containment Units or in short RCUs. The earlier version of these containment units failed in keeping the creatures in bound as some Radivores gradually learned to escape through an Interverse portal opening. Kingdom later developed a newer version of the RCUs in an attempt to stop the Radivores from being able to escape in anyway[5]; Whether the new revisions were effective in preventing new escapes is still unknown at this time though, other than the 6 Radivores that ever managed to escape there has not been a report of any other radivores on the loose; These 6 Radivores are: Wingman, Mosh, Thrash, Dizzy, Svalbard's Radibear(deceased) and ZN-35.

After Svalbard, Brimstone is contacted by one of his old K-Sec colleagues in an attempt to find out if he knows anything about the person behind stealing Wingman and the rest of Gekko's Crew from Kingdom West[6]. Brimstone feigns ignorance and in return tries to persuade his friend to attempt shutting down the Landfall Project which is starting to look more and more dangerous as it goes on. When met with hash rejection from his old coworker, Brimstone has no choice but to authorize a mission to forcefully shut down the operation in Kingdom West resulting in the events of the Sunset Trailer and subsequent shut down of Project Landfall.

Radivores Abilities and Properties[]

Radivores are generally brightly colored and seem to be able to mimic the appearance and some behavioural patterns of existing animals on earth. Supervisor Griffin points this ability out in an Email when requesting the manufactering of revised RCUs. This is also confirmed in an announcement in the map Sunset about a radivore that can mimic various flora. People who have passingly seen Gekko's crew have described them as "armadillos with feathers" [7], and the Radibear in UNMADE Cinematic has mimiced a polar bear closely.

Radivores also have the ability to bond with a human through what could a bite or a small wound and possibly injecting some genetic material in it. After a bond forms the human can communicate and understand what a radivore says to them. Examples of this are Gekko and his bond with his creatures and The brief bond between Deadlock and the Radibear in UNMADE cinematic after the radibear bit her forearm.

As the term implies a Radivore's main food source seems to be Radianite [8]; This, in turn, could play a role in how Radivores' abilities do not follow observable rules of Earths physics. Moving freely without being majorly affected by gravity and hovering in place for instance are some of those abilities that we can see in Dizzy, Mosh and Thrash. Radivores also seem to have a faily high resistance to damage caused by normal bullets. Gekko mentions his crew saying the bullets "tickle" [9] and Svalbard's radibear seems immune to bullets in the UNMADE Cinematic. Even after taking enough damage Radivores seem to be able to enter a sort of hibernating state where they'd stay as what looks like a small globule hovering in place.

Known Radivores[]

Gekko's Crew[]

Gekko's Crew

Gekko's crew of four, named Wingman, Dizzy, Mosh and Thrash, were the first introduction to radivores. They were kept at a Kingdom facility in Los Angeles, California, which is where Gekko stole them to free them from Kingdom. While all four of his radivores take a solid shape, they can all be stored down into the carrier Gekko hangs diagonally from his shoulder. When injured, it also appears that they compact down into circular blobs that can then be retrieved.

The Radivore Bear[]

Radibear

In the UNMADE Cinematic, Deadlock and a team of four called Ursa enter a facility in Svalbard where a radivore bear has escaped containment. This radivore resembles a large polar bear with green and blue streaks on its jaw and throat, 4 glowing cyan eyes and thorn like shell structures on its back and chest . Unlike Gekko's crew, this bear is significantly hostile, killing 3 of the 4 members of Ursa, and ripping off Deadlock's arm before she could destroy it. While it's not confirmed, the abandoned state of the Svalbard facility suggests that the bear likely killed several of the workers and scientists at the lab.

Radivore ZN-35[]

In an email found on Bind in Patch 7.02[10], Supervisor Griffin, mentions a sixth, unaccounted for radivore that has escaped containment. Little is known about this sixth radivore, but from the announcements in Sunset it is codenamed ZN-35, is potentially brightly colored and can mimic any flora [11], however Supervisor Griffin thinks it is not out of the question that it mimics an animal like a coyote as well potentally making it dangerous.

Notes[]

  • The term radivore stems from the French prefix radi-, from Latin radius, meaning "ray" (specifically referring to radianite) and Latin word vora, from vorare, meaning "to devour or eat". This implies that radivores eat radianite exclusively. This was initially hinted through Gekko's voiceline way before the term radivore was firstly used.
