The 2 WORLDS - Clove Agent Trailer was released on March 24th, 2024 to serve as an introduction to the VALORANT PROTOCOL's 25th Agent, namely Clove. The trailer features the song "2WORLDS" by Madge, and depicts a visual representation of Clove’s abilities.

Synopsis[]

This trailer serves as an official introduction for Clove, with a visual representation of their junction between life and death.

Plot[]

The trailer starts with Gekko and Chamber caught in the midst of a battle in Ascent. Gekko tries getting a peek of the enemy from bench, but the fervent gunfire stops him in his tracks. Taking out the magazine of the vandal in his hands, Gekko looks concerned for a moment of the outcomes of this battle— but all of a sudden, Clove leaps into the scene past the archway, and faces the enemy without fearing the bullets. After receiving a few gunshots, Clove falls down, observing the sky above them as they die. Blinking, they reach out a hand to the sky, and when their eyes open again, they’re in a junction between life and death.

Clove stretches and gets back up on their feet, familiar with their surroundings. A glowing line appears below them, trembling occasionally, showing Clove the way back to life. Butterflies hovering above them, Clove roams around and about, exploring their world anew. As they make their way through the space, we see still, hollow images of Clove. They are a panorama of their past selves and memories— some cherished, and some felt for. After Clove creates another hollow image, one particular image of a younger version of them catches their attention. Seeing their past self sad and alone, Clove crouches and wipes a tear from their face.

The glowing yellow line leads Clove to a building with still images of their friends— statues of Neon, Fade, Chamber, and Gekko all stand still with butterflies settled on their stature. Above, Clove sees a still image from real life, of Gekko extending them a hand. Moving to the center of these four still images of their friends, Clove leaps to reach the top. Before coming back to life, they use their powers to use their Ruse ability, manifesting a vision-obscuring cloud with their essence. This cloud covers the trio as Clove comes back to life, and nods affirmingly to their friends that they’re battle-ready again. After a butterfly lands on their fingertip, they focus their immortality essence to summon their Meddle ability, confidently using it against their opponents.

Lore[]

Edinburgh[]

Balmoral Hotel

Balmoral Hotel featured in Clove's rift

Scotland being Clove’s country of origin[1], Edinburgh is extensively featured in their agent trailer. The first landmark we see as they roam about in their rift is the Balmoral Hotel, located in the heart of Edinburgh. The other building that pays homage to Clove’s country of origin is the Waverley Station, which Clove steps into just before coming back to life.

Junction Between Life and Death[]

The purple-themed space Clove roams about is where they end up after dying. Clove is immortal, as they can come back to life after death, but staying in this rift proves to be a dangerous feat, as the longer Clove spends time in this sanctuary, the harder it is for them to return[2]. From the vision Nightmare brought to Fade before Clove’s release, we learn that they do not fear dying[1], but not being able to return from their rift is a scary prospect for them.

Panorama[]

As Clove walks around in their rift, they see multiple versions of their past self. One of these still images features their younger self, alone and afraid. Clove seems to have sympathy for this version of themselves. Although various interpretative theories exist regarding this image, the details of its origin are yet to be explored.

Heartbeat of Clove

Notes[]

  • The yellow, glowing line that guides Clove in their rift is a heartbeat vector. It guides Clove back to life, in the metaphorical and literal sense.
  • The plushie Clove's younger self holds is featured in one of the teasers before their release[3].
  • Clove's theme featuring the singer Madge was teased by a tweet from Riot Music[4].
